Just 10 minutes south of Shepparton – 90 minutes from Melbourne, in the heart of the Goulburn Valley, this picturesque Olive Grove brings together Olivehouse Restaurant and Greendale Grove Olive Shop, for a unique Mediterranean experience.
A stately red brick federation style building is home to the beautiful restaurant which is afforded wonderful views onto the olive grove, expanses of manicured lawn, edged with thick agapanthus, and the mauve heads of a prolific lavender hedge that seems to flower all year.
Walls of glass that open onto rambling verandahs stretching almost into the olive grove provide the perfect setting for a special meal, informal get together or a grand event such as a wedding.
The Olive themed restaurant, on the Goulburn Valley Hwy south of Shepparton, was built in 2003 to expand on the Henry family’s passion for growing the Mediterranean fruit and production of the very best quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Table Olives.
Rod and Anne Henry along with their daughter Jacqui began their journey 16 years ago when they decided to diversify on their traditional cattle property at Shepparton East, which was suffering the effects of salinity. The Kialla West property was purchased in 2001 and now has over 4000 trees with 14 different varieties of olive trees.
Jacqui and partner Rob (head chef) successfully operate Olivehouse Restaurant and Greendale Grove Olive Shop with support and assistance from parents. Rod Henry maintains the 50 acre Olive Grove, including harvesting annually. The family business is one of the largest olive based businesses in Victoria.
